DIY Macaron Art ~ Using Scrapbook Stickers!

Hi lovelies!  I love using random objects in an unconventional way, and when I found these adorable macaron stickers at Michaels, I knew they'd make some adorable art!  So when the glass from this picture frame broke :( I decided to give it a new life.  {Click for the how-to!}

You'll need:

  • Picture frame (this part is up to you - use a new one with the glass or if you have an old broken one lying around use that one!)
  • Macaron scrapbook stickers (I found them at Michaels in the scrapbooking stickers aisle!)
  • White cardstock
  • Black paint & q-tip
  • Not shown: newspaper, x-acto knife, cutting mat, jar lid (or something to put your paint on), double-stick tape

Lay out a piece of newspaper and put your photo mat face up.  Squirt a little bit of paint onto a jar lid or something similar.  To create the dotted effect, all you need to do is put a little bit of paint onto the q-tip and stamp it up and down.

Hold the q-tip sideways to get smaller dots.  Play around with it!

Fill in your photo mat with as many dots as you'd like and let the paint thoroughly dry.

If your cardstock is larger than the photo mat (and thus won't fit in the frame!), trim it down to size.  I used my x-acto knife and a cutting mat to easily cut my cardstock to size.

Use double stick tape to affix the cardstock to the back of the photo mat.  Time to add our macarons!

Simply peel off the stickers and place them gently in the spot you think they should go.  This way if you need to move one a little bit you can easily do so.

Once you're happy with the stickers' placement, push them firmly down.

Reassemble your frame et voila!

I'm so happy with how well this turned out!  I really am loving the contrast of the dotted mat with the bright macarons.  Feel free to get creative and really make something fun!  Use a different colored (or patterned!) paper for the background, do a different pattern/colors on the mat, etc.

I'd love to see what you're making!  Make sure to tag your creation #SnSdiy on Instagram!
