Hi lovelies! I'm back with an awesome new DIY for you today. I saw this doormat and knew I could easily recreate it for a fraction of the price. So I did! You wouldn't believe how easy it is and it really doesn't take much time at all. {How-to after the jump!}
You'll need:
- Plain doormat (I used this one from Ikea)
- Black acrylic paint (make sure it's safe for outdoor use!)
- Paintbrushes
- Painter's tape
Start by taping off the lines for the mountains. Don't worry about it being perfect - imperfection is key here! Plus, we will go back and do some touch-ups shortly.
Paint inside the lines. You'll need to kinda stamp the paint in and wiggle the brush around to really get it in there.
Remove the tape and touch up any spots where the mountains aren't touching each other from the tape. It doesn't take long for the paint to dry so there's no waiting time involved.
At this point, your mat should look something like this. Now let's decorate it!
I used the inspiration piece as my guide to draw the shapes. You could use painter's tape to make sure your lines are straight but I chose to freehand the design.
Et voila!
I couldn't love this finished piece more! Since I live in Colorado, the mountains have such a special place in my heart. This fun geometric twist is so perfect.
You may remember my fun tropical leaf print doormat I made last year. It's such an easy way to personalize a doormat so you have something truly unique that'll make you smile every time you come home!
I'd love to see your take on this! Make sure to hashtag your creation on Instagram with #SnSdiy so I can see what you're making!
xo
