I like to do any baking/extra-long preparing on Sundays, and the kids love to help cook! It's a great way for us to spend some quality time together, and preparing things in advance gives us more time throughout the week to really have more time to spend together.
Let's learn how to first make some easy Nestlé® Butterfinger® cookies! {Click to keep reading!}
You'll need:
- 1-3/4 cups of flour
- 3/4 teaspoon of baking soda
- 1/4 teaspoon of salt
- 3/4 cup of sugar
- 1 stick of butter, softened
- 1 egg
- 5 Nestlé® Butterfinger® Fun Size bars, crushed (I just took a rolling pin to each wrapped bar and whacked it about 3-4 times)
How-to:
- Preheat oven to 375°.
- Mix together the flour, baking soda, and salt in a small bowl and set aside.
- Using an electric mixer, mix the butter and sugar together until it's creamy.
- Add in the egg, and continue to mix until it's now really creamy.
- By hand, add in the crumbled Nestlé® Butterfinger® bars and stir with a wooden spoon or spatula to distribute evenly.
- Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
- If you have a round tablespoon measuring spoon, use that to drop rounded tablespoonfuls onto the cookie sheet, leaving equal space around each little ball.
Bake for about 10-13 minutes or until lightly golden brown. Keep an eye on them - they cook fast! Let cool and remove. Enjoy!
They are so yummy and the plain sugar cookie base really allows the Butterfinger® taste to pop!
Now here's how to make some yummy Crispy Crunchy Bars!
You'll need:
- 1/2 stick of butter, softened
- 4 cups of mini-marshmallows
- 5 cups of crispy rice cereal
- 5 Nestlé® Crunch® bars, crushed
How-to:
- Melt the butter in a large saucepan over low heat.
- Add in the marshmallows, stirring regularly until thoroughly melted.
- Remove pan from heat.
- Stir in crispy rice cereal.
- Stir in Nestlé® Crunch® bars.
- Butter a square pan (I prefer to use butter on a paper towel to using a cooking spray, so use your choice here!) and a spatula.
- Empty the saucepan into the pan, and use the buttered spatula to firmly press everything around and down firmly.
- If you'd like, sprinkle some extra candy bar crumbles on top!
I like to throw the pan in the fridge for a half hour to get it all to set quickly, then cut it into squares. The chocolate pieces really make the bars extra fun. Enjoy!
I made this awesome stop motion video for Instagram, but then it wouldn't load! Boo! So here's the best I could get it on Instagram, below. I also uploaded it to YouTube, click here to see it!
These make great after-school snacks too!
My kids love having sweet treats in their lunches and as long as they eat the rest of their food, I'm happy! I love to make their classic PB&J sandwiches a little more fun by cutting them out with a cookie cutter, and I use silicone baking cups to organize some snacks in their bento containers.
You can find Juicy Juice® boxes in the juice aisle, and the Fun Size Bags of both Nestlé® Butterfinger® and Crunch® bars in the candy aisle of your local Walmart.
What are some of your must-haves and special tips for packing your kids' lunches?
