Hi lovelies! Lately, chewing gum has been a necessity for me. I have it on me at all times. I quit smoking two months ago, so whenever I get stressed or bored or anything that would normally trigger smoking, I chew a piece of gum until the craving subsides. By far, my favorite is Juicy Fruit because the flavor just brings nostalgia to me and all of a sudden I feel like I'm a kid again! And I'm not smoking too!
We do a lot of little trips during the summer, so needless to say Juicy Fruit's new gum varieties have been my saving grace.
You see, I just flew into California this morning, and my trusty Juicy Fruit gum nixed my anxiety on the plane! No smoking? No fear! Ears popping? Not today!
I wanted to do something fun with upcycling the wrapper/container, so I thought what better way to remember your summer travels than to reuse the packaging for something you'll look at all year long! {Click for the how-to!}
First, let's make a cute little magnet. I really love the fun pop-art vibe to this one, and it's really so so so easy to make.
You'll need:
- A magnet (I used the cheapo ones that come on the cover of the phone book, any freebie one will work great!)
- Mod podge
- Foam brush
- Scissors
- Juicy Fruit Bubble Gum wrapper
Cut out the logo to the size you want, and apply a good layer of mod podge to the back. Stick it on the magnet, and coat the top of it with more mod podge. Let dry thoroughly. Since I was working outside in the sun, mine dried really fast.
Cut out your new magnet from the old one by cutting right along the edges of the wrapper.
Stick it up!
Now let's make a pencil cup out of the canister! You could also use it to corral little bits and bobs like erasers, paper clips, even your lip balm. Get creative!
You'll need:
- Washi tape
- Juicy Fruit Fruit Chews container
This one is pretty straightforward - peel off the wrapper from the container, and add colorful (or sparkly!) washi tape around the container. Add pens/pencils and you're done!
This is a great way to upcycle items that bring you fond memories of your summer! But more than that, it's an easy way to have some really fun and unique accessories for your (kids') locker. With school starting in 2ish weeks (ugh!) and school supplies costing an arm and a leg, let's face it: free is fun!
The new varieties of Juicy Fruit gum are being featured in Walmart stores nationwide! The Juicy Fruit Bubble Gum is amazing for blowing giant bubbles; stop by your local Walmart store and see for yourself! The Juicy Fruit demos are happening July 25-27, 11:00am – 4:00pm and again August 1-3, 11:00am – 4:00pm (Friday/Saturday) and 1:00am – 6:00pm on Sunday.
